In his first appearance on the big screen, the Lego Joker is hell-bent on destroying Gotham City. But is always failed by his incapable henchmen. In this movie, the portrayal of the Joker that we get to see is a bit different than the usual depictions of the character.

This Joker has combined villainy with vulnerabilities and wants to get recognized as the biggest foe of Batman by Batman himself. He is also not as violent as he is in other live-action or animated appearances. And has disapproved of the use of violence multiple times in this movie.

As the movie progresses we see the Lego versions of Batman and Joker face each other where Batman tells his enemy that he doesn’t mean anything to him. After hearing this Joker is demoralized and plans to destroy Gotham for good. To achieve this he manipulates Batman into sending him into the phantom zone. Where the biggest criminals and villains are imprisoned.

On getting into the Phantom zone everybody tries to kill him. But he stops them by convincing them to work for him and he will help them escape the Phantom Zone. He succeeds in getting everybody out and traps Batman inside the Phantom Zone. On getting to Gotham City with his new and more capable henchmen he destroys Batcave first and turns Wayne Island into an amusement park.

Meanwhile Batman succeeds is successful in getting released from the Phantom zone by its keeper on the condition that he will bring all the escapees back. He confronts Joker alone and sends the rest of Batfamily away to protect them.

Joker captures him and asks Batman to admit that he is Batman’s greatest enemy. But, when Batman does not comply he Joker goes to detonate the bomb on mainland Gotham.

Batman realizes that the only way to save the city now is together with his family. He teams up with them and takes down Joker but it is too late as the nuclear bomb has been detonated and Lego Gotham City is starting to tear apart.

Realizing that it is all his fault Batman convinces Joker to save the city by accepting him as his greatest enemy and the reason for his existence and fighting crime. After this declaration, everyone including Joker and Batman forms a lego chain to capture the separating Lego parts of the city and pulling them back together.

And upon successfully saving the city and sending the criminals back in the Phantom Zone, Batman gives a 30-minute headstart to Joker before he tries to catch him in the ending scene.
