Superman is one of the most powerful superheroes of the comic book world. He is known as the “Heavy Hitter” because of his ability to turn the table on anybody he is fighting. It doesn’t even matter who is in the opposition or how powerful they are. Superman is the one person that can take anybody down. We only got to see the full extent of Superman’s powers in the Injustice storyline where all the superheroes of Earth combined could not even stop him. Leaving other superpowers aside, only a punch from Superman is enough to defeat anybody.
Superman is one of those Superheroes that only had his superpowers watered down as time passed. The reason behind this watering down of the powers was that the later versions of Superman focused on Clark Kent as the main personality and treated Superman as the other persona. While the Golden age and Silver age of comics treated Superman as the main personality.
In treating the human personality of Kal-El as the main one, writers had to make him more relatable to humans. For this they gave him emotions and also put him in moral and ethical dilemmas as any other human would be. They started focusing on his life as human instead of just writing about what he achieves as Superman.
Only the injustice storyline focused on what Superman could accomplish if he unleashed his powers on Earth. Other than that we mostly see Superman controlling himself all the time as he might kill someone if he ever lost control even for a second. So in this article, we will describe a Superman punch moment that in our opinion is where Superman unleashes his full power.
Destroyer (Justice League Unlimited)
In this episode, The Legion of Doom and Justice League work together against Darkseid. The episode starts with Lex warning the Justice League of an impending attack by Darkseid. He also tells how Darkseid attacked the Legion’s headquarters and nearly killed everyone. Superman arrests Lex and the remaining members of the Legion. But they argue that they should also be allowed to fight as they also belong to Earth. Superman and Wonder Woman remain skeptical but Batman speaks in their favor.
But Lex says that they can do whatever they want he only wants revenge from Darkseid for separating him from Brainiac. Wonder Woman forms mixed teams to fight off the invaders and when Darkseid attacks, all the teams engage. Parademons use destroyer machines all around the globe and chaos is spread everywhere.
Batman tracks down Darkseid ships by locating the most heavily guarded one. The ship is hovering above The Daily Planet when Justice League intercepts it. And Darkseid comes out warning superman that he will destroy Superman’s adopted planet. The resulting clash between the heroes and Darkseid has destroyed most of the building of The Planet. It is at this time Lex sees Metron and asks him to help by stopping Darkseid. Metron takes Lex to the Anti-Life Equation as this is the only thing in all of the cosmos that can stop Darkseid. But also warns of the dangers if Darkseid gets his hands on the equation.
The Best Superman Punch Moments
Meanwhile, on Earth, the heroes are being defeated by the attacking forces. And on seeing their condition Superman punches Darkseid out of his flight. Darkseid is caught by surprise at the strength of Superman. But Superman appears and reveals that he had spent all his life controlling himself. A single punch from Superman can kill anybody if he does not control himself. And asks Darkseid that he could take a punch from Superman?
He then elaborates and reveals that it is a rare opportunity where he can stop controlling himself and unleash his full strength on Darkseid. After completing his sentence, Superman delivers a punch to Darkseid that throws him back by miles. But Superman is seen waiting for Darkseid even before he could reach there. And delivers another punch that pushes Darkseid into the ground.
Darkseid even became fearful at the Kryptonian’s strength and trapped him inside an “Agony Matrix” that activates all the pain receptors of Superman’s body. This causes him to suffer serious pain. But Lex arrives with the Anti-Life and offers it to Darkseid. After this, both of them disappear. On seeing Darkseid vanished, the invading forces retreated.
Conclusion
There are many iconic scenes that feature Superman deliver a punch to his enemies. But this is the only time even Superman admits that he will use his full power. This is what makes this fight scene the best superman punch moment in our opinion.
