The Batman Cave: 9 Cool Uses for The Batcave

Batcave batman cave

The Batman Cave is one of a kind, and it has become known as the Batcave. It’s where Batman goes to do all Batman-related work. Think of the garage for a woodworker as an example. Batman needs a place to get away, do detective work, fix and build new gadgets and vehicles, and store all of his outfits.

Clearly, Bruce Wayne can’t just have people walking through Wayne Manor seeing all of his Batman-related stuff. It has to be hidden away so he can remain unknown to the public. The Batcave provides that getaway, but it also sets the tone for Batman’s work. Batman is the Dark Knight, and the cave matches that.

It’s part of the Batman lore. Every movie makes a point to highlight the Batcave because fans expect to see it. Here is what Batman uses the cave for.

1. Forensic Work

The Dark Knight is not done right unless the writers show off Batman’s forensic skills. Bruce Wayne is a smart dude, and he puts that brain to help him catch bad guys. To clean up the streets, he has to do real detective work.

You see this in the Dark Knight when he looks for fingerprints on the bullet. You also see his forensic skills on full display in the 1989 Batman when he figures out that The Joker uses toxins in multiple products to kill people.

Batman Cave is where Batman goes to do the hard forensic work that allows him to beat the police and stay ahead of crime.

2. Detective Work

The Batcave is also used for doing detective work that goes hand in hand with forensic work. Detective work means researching to figure out what is going on. Any studying that Batman is doing or looking into criminal databases is detective work to help him catch his guy.

Here is another area that Batman shines. He is a wizard with computers and maintains a monster of a computer in his Batcave at all times. Think about how the businessman goes to his office to work. The Batman cave is the office for Bruce Wayne.

3. Workout in The Batman Cave

Batman vs. Superman got Batman working out, so right. Most people would assume that the Billionaire Bachelor would be at Lifetime Fitness or have some state-of-the-art gym in his house. But Bruce knows that the best works happen because of the man, not the location.

The Batcave is also the perfect place for a good workout. It’s dark and very dungeon-like. No bells and whistles are needed. Flashy is not welcomes when it’s time to work out; the only thing you need is sweat and some grind.

The cool thing about using the Batman cave this way is that anyone can do it. You can throw a tire in your basement and get a sledgehammer and start to hit it. It would help if you barely had any lighting to make this happen.

4. Vehicle Storage

One of the coolest things about the Batman cave is the vehicles inside of it. Batman always has something up his sleeve when it comes to the Batcave. His vehicles are always getting damaged on missions, so he has to fix and improve them independently. He can’t just bring his Batmobile down to the local mechanic.

The Batcave also needs to have water so the Batboat can be parked and space up high to hang the Batwing. Overall, when you look at the Batcave, the most expressive and impressive part is the vehicles. The storage of vehicles is what separates the Batcave from your average modern cool basement.

5. Outfits and Trophies

One of the coolest things about the Batman cave is all of the things stored down there. All of the outfits and uniforms that Batman rocks have to be stored down in the Batcave away from the Public. But you would have to imagine that after a few decades, that is a lot of suits and memories.

You can see items in the Batcave like a giant T-rex, a massive Penny, and even a massive playing card in the comics. These serve as trophies from Batman’s past cases. Where else to store them but the Batcave? What’s even cooler about these items is that they come straight from cases from older comics.

  • The giant penny came from 1947’s “World’s Finest” #30
  • The dinosaur is from 1946’s “Batman” #35 where Batman was trapped in a theme park of animatronic dinosaurs
  • The playing card came from one of the Joker’s hideouts in 1946’s “Detective Comics” #114

6. Krytonite Storage in The Batcave

Batman having Kryptonite ready speaks to how prepared Bruce Wayne is. He is not sitting around waiting for Superman to come around and destroy him. As soon as he realizes that he has a weakness, he puts his resources towards having it for a rainy day.

The Batman cave is hidden, but you have Kryptonite hidden within the cave on top of it being hidden. If you want to increase your Batman factor, get what you need to beat your enemies before you need it. If you wait until you need it, then it’s too late.

7. The Batman Cave Needs Bats and Lots of Them

One of the other things that separate most awesome basements from being the Batcave is that people don’t have actual live bats. Batman chose bats for a reason; most people are terrified of these things. They are scary look animals, like rodents that can fly.

There is an early comic where Batman brings a bad guy to the Batcave to have the bats scare him. The fear factor of these animals is real. If someone breaks into the Batcave, they better be able to deal with Bats.

8. Garbage Security in The Batcave?

For the story to advance, the Batman cave had to have horrible security. You would think that a guy with the world’s most amazing cars, planes, computers, and Kryptonite would have the best security scene, but this is not the case.

In Batman Forever, the Riddler and Two-Face are seen destroying the Batcave. In the same movie, Robin manages to find his way into the cave. It’s just sad because the security should be much better, but it just isn’t.

9. It’s Everything Batman

The Batman cave needs to be able to hold everything that matters to Batman in one place. One of the older comics did a breakdown of the full Batcave so fans could see everything from the vehicles to the outfits. There are a lot more commemorative items than most people realize.
